Plan Your Visit

Whether you’re stepping onto the ice for the first time or you’ve got ice in your veins, we’ve got so many ways for you to get out on the ice you won’t want to be on solid ground again. Slide on into the Dunedin Ice Stadium today!

Getting here

The Dunedin Ice Stadium is located at 101 Victoria Road in St Kilda, a short 10 minute drive from the centre of town!

If you are coming by public transport, we now have a bus stop right outside the rink with direct link to the Octagon. Just catch Bus 44 or 55 to St Kilda, and hop off at Victoria Road. Visit the Otago Regional Council website here for more infomation on times and fares.

What to wear

While it may not be cold outside, enjoying the ice comes with a chilly environment. We recommend wearing a few layers even though you will likely warm up once you start skating.

The most important items are:

  • A jacket or warm jumper
  • A beanie and gloves to keep your head and hands warm
  • Long, thick socks to make your skates nice and comfy

Skate hire & equipment

To make your life easier, we have all the equipment you will need to get going:

  • Skate sizes ranging from children’s size 8 to adult size 13 in both figure and hockey skate styles
  • Helmets free for hire with skates for those starting out
  • We also have a sleuth of polar bear skate aids to hire to help those young ones build their confidence! Available for just $3 + bond. You can find these at skate hire!

Social Curling

Curling is a great way to enjoy the ice without having to strap blades to your feet!

We have all the gear you need to partake but please remember to:

  • Wear appropriate footwear and avoid dress shoes or heels. Gym shoes or boots with rubber soles are ideal
  • We recommend bringing gloves, as it can get chilly holding your broom
  • We require you to book in advance so please contact us at least two days prior on (03) 456 4556
  • Feel free to bring your own food and drink and enjoy our function room for your social curling event!

Parents & spectators

Do you have children who want to skate but you aren’t keen to get on the ice yourself? Not to worry, we are always monitoring what is happening on the ice to ensure everyone’s safety! However, we do recommend that children under the age of six should be accompanied by either an adult or an older child.

If you aren’t skating or just need a break, stay warm and relax in our lounge where you can watch your kids skate and enjoy our free complimentary Wi-Fi. Our snack bar also serves hot food, snacks and a large range of hot and cold drinks!

Please note, no external food or drink (except water) can be brought into the venue unless by prior arrangement.
