Our learn to skate programmes are open to all ages and skill levels. Our expert instructors will help you through the basics and build your confidence on the ice. These programmes are perfect for anyone wanting to play ice sports, or if you're just looking to improve your skating. Read below for more info.

Public Skating Sessions

Our public skating sessions are open Tuesday - Sunday. No booking is required, but there is the option to book and pay online below! The sessions are open to every level of skating. Admission prices lower down the page!

Friday Night Disco

Our discos are the perfect activity for some Friday night fun! No booking is required, just rock up and enjoy the ice! Suitable for all ages, families and all skill levels. The disco usually runs from 7:30-9:30pm but double check our opening times below as they can differ.

Casual Curling Sessions

Our curling rink is open from Tuesday - Sunday. Prior booking is required for casual curling sessions. Bookings are by the hour and if needed, one of our staff can explain the basics & rules of the game. To book, email: enquiries@dunedinicestadium.co.nz

Public Stick & Puck Sessions

As we don't allow hockey sticks or pucks during our ice skating sessions, we have special sessions just for hockey players! These sessions are unstructured and all players must wear at a minimum a certified hockey helmet and gloves. U15 players have to wear full protective gear.

Helmets are now mandatory for all public skaters
We have a range of sizes and provide helmets free of charge

Getting Here

Driving:

The Dunedin Ice Stadium is located at 101 Victoria Road in St Kilda, a short 10-minute drive from the center of town with free parking on site!

Bus:

There is a bus stop right outside the rink with a direct link to the Octagon. Catch busses 44 or 55 to St Kilda.

We Provide

As helmets are now mandatory for all public skaters, we provide a large range of sizes, free of charge. Hire skates are also provided for no extra cost. We have polar bear skating aids available for $5 each. We also have a warm viewing area for parents and spectators with free wifi. Our cafe serves hot food, snack and cold drink and is always open!

What to Wear

Unsurprisingly, it is quite chilly in the rink! Although you will warm up once you start skating, it is important to wear warm clothes. Remember a warm jacket, a beanie, gloves, and long, thin socks to make your skates comfy.
